Teacher Innovative Grant in Action at Clear Lake High School!

The success of school based enterprises (SBEs) on the campuses of Clear Lake High School and Clear Creek High School have brought about new opportunities in the way of curriculum and instruction within the CCISD marketing program. SBEs have become learning labs by which students are taught practical job skills that prepare them for their first, or in some cases, next level of employment. CCEF is excited to be apart of The Pilot Program at both high schools. This will give students control of daily operations of a small business such as employee scheduling, business financials, inventory control and profit margins. This inspires them to be creative and think of new ways to increase revenue and market their product while preparing them for the real world.

Thanks to Gulf Coast Pipeline Services and Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins and Mott LLC a $10,000 Teacher Innovative Team Grant was awarded to Heather Jefferson at CLHS and Shawn Mosley at CCHS. With the grant money, multiple resources were purchased for the Tee Shop and the Cat Corner.

A heat press and vinyl machine were purchased to give students the needed resources to create individual customized shirts and sell them. “The Tee Shop at CLHS is booming!” stated Ms. Jefferson. “It is branching out and handling bulk orders from various clubs on campus. We even received 2 orders from outside of campus! Next step is to train a student to go out into the community and pitch sales to spread the word and get more business.” With the booming sales, display units were also able to be purchased and setup behind the checkout counter to better display items. “We used grant funds from CCEF to install a slat wall from counter to ceiling behind our checkout counter to display our school supplies and technology items,” stated Ms. Jefferson. “This has helped our students be more organized with inventory and supplies.”
