Education Foundation’s 25th anniversary gala raises over $64,000 to support academic enrichment within CCISD

 

The Clear Creek Education Foundation (CCEF) hosted its 25th anniversary gala on Nov. 4 at South Shore Harbour Resort & Conference Center. Themed “Glitz and Glamour,” more than 350 attend

ees helped honor many individuals for their positive contributions to the Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) and raised over $64,000 to support academic enrichment programs.

“This event was very evident of the love and commitment our community has for our wonderful school district,” said CCEF Gala Chairman Jill Reason. “Having the Clear Creek Education Foundation celebrate 25 years of growth and dedication to take education to the next level is a true blessing and it’s an honor to be a part of it.”

The focal point of the evening included honoring an elite group of individuals for their outstanding efforts in serving and representing CCISD. The 2017 award recipients included:

Ron McLeod – George B. Carlisle Distinguished Service Award for consistent commitment to CCISD over time.
Connie Davis Fuller, Christin Hart, Captain, USAF and Dr. Michael Janney – Distinguished Alumni Award, which honors individuals who have excelled in their chosen profession and have made significant contributions to their communities.
Capt Scott Hartman, USN– Valor Award, in honor of a public servant (military, police, fire, etc.) who has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Kevin Duke and Ruth Rendon Duke, Magali Gutierrez, Lauren Jehli, Dinah Parker Matthews and Gary Mossman –CCISD Superstar Award, which honors individuals who support and enhance the District, whether CCISD alumni or not.
Mickey Wooten of South Shore Grille – Dennis Johnson Memorial Small Business Award, an honor that recognizes a local entrepreneur within CCISD who demonstrates unwavering commitment to the district through active participation in multiple activities.
Trent Martin – Citizen of the Year, which recognizes an outstanding member of the community who consistently demonstrates commitment to CCISD and excellence in public education through volunteer efforts. It is bestowed by the CCISD Board of Trustees and the CCEF.

All award winners received a saber salute from the Junior ROTC at Clear Creek High School as they entered the ballroom and were introduced by emcees: Lauren Ambeau, Brookside Intermediate Principal and Michael Houston, Clear View High School Principal.

Other gala highlights included silent and live auctions, a live painting of the Bay Area by Anat Ronen, Silver Dancers provided by Bay Area Houston Ballet and Theatre, “Jewelry is a Girl’s Best Friend” provided by Kendra Scott-Baybrook and entertainment by Divisi Stings Amp’d String Quartet and TapSnap Phototainment.

The event was planned by a 20 person volunteer committee that includes: CCEF Community Marketing and Events Manager, Kelsey Richardson; Chairman, Jill Reason; Committee Members, Kim Barker, Katy Bastedo, MarshallBennett, Janet Brown, Kelli Byrd, Paige Fahey, Kimberly Fleming, Ann Hammond, Rebecca Lilley, Laura Mackay, Amanda Mark, Elizabeth McCarty, Sarah Moutz, Elaine Renola, Deena Rigby, Mary Ann Shallberg, Teresa Vencil, Marcia Vineyard and Elizabeth Wiehle Wang.
